Hey can one of you guys do me a favor and tell me what your cars RPM's is at at 80 MPH. I tested mine today and at 80MPH it was at 3500 RPM's. I have owned Z cars most of my life and at 80MPH my z would be cruising at like 2K RPM's. I dunno if something is wrong..

Keep in mind to thiis a 4 cyl not a 6 like your Z and also the gear rations throughout the drive train play a big part.

you have it all wrong...

the car isn't struggling, it's the raw horsepower trying to break loose.

My 240 is an automatic right now and yesterday I maintained a steady speed of 80mph , my tac was at 3200 rpms. This is on a level highway.[no inclines or grades]

I wouldnt think so. You can remidy most of this with gear ratio changes in the trans and/or diff. more to it then simply that but that will change out put revolution not to mention give you a higher top speed.[if you dont fix the speedo to compensate.]

If your not scared to push your car anything is possible. I used to down shift in my 93 240 at 70 mph.

The AT has a 115 speed limiter, but from what I understand it is actually 110 that it cuts out. The manual has a 115 as well but it doesnt cut till 114. If you remove the limiter then your only limit is your tac or your tires. If you redline in 5th or your tires explode and your roll your car into that oncoming semi ultimatly killing you.

First question. What the hell does the oral tooth brush have to do with your speedo???...lol

Second question, what size tires you runnin on your car?

lol if you haven't seen any O RLY's yet... i'm sure your day will soon come hahah.

and i have 205/55/16. i'm not saying go speed around w/ your tires or what i'm going to say is necessarily good information, but personally, i don't really see many tires exploding at exactly X miles per hour everytime you do it. but if you have a relatively decent speed rating then you should be able to max out.

again, i'm not telling you to it's safe or that you should... but i don't have a problem w/ it myself.

I have seen the O rly. There was a thread based soely on it , I have absolutly no clue what it means or what it came from.I dont see the humor in it since I dont know its origin. To me it all seams kinda gay actually.

The reason I asked your tire size is if your speed limiter hasent been removed the tires size could be changing what the speedo displays which wouldnt be accurate speed. your car must have had the limiter removed to read that speed, however your RPM range is off for the speed your speedometer is indicating. If you were truly going that speed you should have been closer to taced out or you dont have the stock KA in the car.

Also NO the tires dont blow at thier set speed rating. They would if they sustained a higher then rated speed for a long period of time as the heat buckling would eventually break down the rubber causeing the blow out.
