so i got a new radiator into the car. it always worked well but then i had some hose leaks so i got air bubbles. i repalced some hoses and kinda bled the system but not fully. the temp would go up real high but that was cause of the leaks. i evnevtually fixed it all so it wouldn't leak. i filled everything up, bled the system, and filled the overflow tank to max capacity. i started driving it again but now when i drive the temp rises into the red but it stays more or less normal at idle. im thinking its the waterpump but im not sure. also, i got a lot of coolant that flowed back into the overflow tank and nearly to the top. any ideas?

When you bled the system did you have the climate control on full hot? If not air can get trapped in the heater core loop.

When the water pump fails there is a burp hole in it and water will seep out. This is because the seal has broke and water is being pushed through the bearing. Check water pump housing to see if any coolant is seeping out, if not you should be ok.

Two things that are most likely the cause: Rad cap or Thermostat. Both are very easy to change, and very cheap. Change rad cap first, thermo second.

Rad cap = not enough pressure building in the system, coolant expands and escapes by the rad cap giving you less cooling capacity.

Thermo = not responding/opening at the right temperature, not enough coolant flowing through radiator when hot.
