Round and round i have gone, after much searching.

My question is, Given, an 5-Speed OBD1 '95 S14, then swapping for a '95 OBD1 Auto ECU.

Will This produce a CEL?

If so, does anyone know why this is the case, when an OBD1 '93 S13 could do the same thing, no CEL.

(Im interested in the swap so i can get more out of my 2nd gear in Auto X (Few extra revs) as well as slightly better fuel econ.)

(speed limiter might only ever come into effect on an HPDE at a track like Mosport in Canada)

Well you know what the OBD2 guys all say... "It ain't custom unless it's got a check engine light!" LOL I wish I could help as that thats actually the setup I had in my S14 before, but it had been auto from the factory and swapped to manual. What does the stock 5 speed ecu rev limit at? My auto ecu never let it rev past 6500, which sucked coming from a 91 S13 which would let you go all the way to 7300

it gets you about 300 extra, not a huge change, but every little bit helps, esp against those higher revving honders.

Yeah no doubt, another route you might look into is using an S13 ecu with a jumper harness. The harness costs about $100, got mine from R.S. Enthalpy, but that'll allow you to run a 91 ecu which rev limits at 7300 like I said. Not sure if any special tuning is required for the ecu itself to run with this setup. Contact Martin at enthalpy if you're interested, he'll be able to answer that question. And PM me if you haven't bought another ecu yet, I've got a 95 auto ecu just lying on the floor and in a month or so I wont be using my 91 ecu either.
