As it's been getting below zero here quite frequently, this is a MAJOR issue for me. The car reaches operating temp within about 10 minute of idling. The gauge will show just below the halfway mark, so it gets pretty hot. I took the cooling fan off of it just to make sure it was getting hot enough.

However, this thing throws NO heat. It seemed like the cable for the temp selection was broke, so I went into the engine bay and opened the coolant flow valve on the heater hose. You'd think that would let hot coolant in and fix the problem, right? WRONG.

Is there maybe like a blend door of some sort that could be holding the heat back? I'm freezing and this sucks.

After you manually opened the valve, did you feel the heater hoses get hot?I don't have heating problems, but I noticed one of my heater hoses was twisted and kinked. So check all hoses going to the core for proper routing and flow..Then I would try flushing the core.
