For under $500 theres not much. he could maybe do cams or ka24e pistons. nitrous is another. And he would have to do the installs himself to keep it around $500.

Correct me if i'm wrong to think one of these things can be done for around $500.

forget about the cams and pistons. definitely scratch out the nitrous. Not that they're bad or anything, they will require lots of work and time, plus a fairly good knowledge of engines to install them correctly.

For $500, I would get a used cold air intake from a seller (used injens cai can be had for around $100-$150), a new ASP Pulley (around $130) and dual electric fans for about $200.

In October's issue of import tuner, they have a 96 240, and they do a few mods to it(pulleys, intake, and exhaust) , and i think they are all under 500, check it out...

I think he meant $500 total. That pulley set is 400, intake 200, exhaust 500. It gets expensive pretty quick. I would definitely agree with bruinbears mods.

I'd definitely say at least an intake. new or used it'll run him anywhere from $150-$300. Injen w/ Cold Air extension is a good way to go. I don't think you could get an exhaust for under $500, but i'm just talking about new. if you could find one used, go for it. Apexi N1's a good exhaust. I'm not sure how much they sell for in any store so I could be wrong about not being under $500. If he already has those, then go with the pulleys. It all adds up after a while :(

If you're strapped for cash too, on the Apexi N1, you can just buy the muffler itelf for 150-200 and have a muffler shop do custom piping...I can get the piping done for about 50 bucks, so all in all it'd be 250 for the full exhaust...

Where is everyone getting the following from?

1. Dual electric fans?2. Unorthodox pulleys?

Also, are the daul electric fans a direct bolt on or are modifications needed?

fans: pep boys, autozone, ebaypulleys: I got an ASP crank pulley from rpmoutlet.com for $99. You can get UR full sets or crank pulleys from enjukuracing.com, ptuning.com, or optauto.com.

Modifications will be needed depending on which fans you get. I think most of them are through core mounted. So you put your fan up against the radiator and ram some plastick mounting pieces through the radiator and tighten them with another piece. Not too tough of an install. Make sure you get a thermostat relay to turn it on and off according to engine temp. It's only like $17 from autozone.

Is there a specific part number if I was to go to, let's say Pep Boy or Autozone for these electric fans? Are they all standard or do I specify for 1995 240sx SE?

It depends on the set up you want to run. I don't know of any manufacturers that make electric fans specific to 240s. You'll have to get something like mine, universal 12" fans. I bought two since I'm going to turbo my KA so I'll need the extra cooling. Dual 12s fit perfectly on the stock radiator. But there are people running single 14s, dual 10s, single 12s. I think its mostly a comfort factor, knowing that if you have 2 fans if one goes out you still have one working.
