Getting rid of the auto seatbelts in the s13 is one of the first things you should do. Much more comfortable and even saves some weight. If you can find a set of the JDM manual s13 seatbelts with panels buy it because they're not too common anymore and it's a direct fit. Used to be had for under $200 but I'd pay $300 for a nice set nowadays. I couldn't find any for the coupe so I had to do the S14 belts. I read some of the DIY and they worked, but they were a little ghetto. This way is just as ghetto, but works and looks better IMO. I used right side for right and vice versa but I switched the top mount and buckle 180 degrees on the belt. I also used original middle belt clasp from s14 (the little black plastic bracket thingie) and cut out one panel mounting point that was in the way of the belt. Belt goes in and out smooth and brakes like it should.
I used all original hardware except for one steel spacer and one bracket from the store.
I used a dremel at high rpm which pretty much burned out the pattern in the panel. Just kept putting it in place and cutting off bit by bit. Then used file and sand paper to smooth and round it. Once I had one side done I used it as pattern for other side.
Used a steel bracket from hardware store to bolt upper part of setbelt bottom in place. Nice and secure
Put everything back and works great. It's just a little bit off center because it doesn't have the hood thing for the bottom right side like the JDM belt does. Still better than auto!
