Hey everyone. I have a 96 s14 with a ka24de. Was a auto but switched to manual. I just finished putting together my ka and tried starting the motor up earlier after noon but the motor would just crank. I found out that my fuel pump fuse was out so i put a fuse in and it started kinda fire up but died. I'm aware that timing could be off but the weird part was before I put the fuel pump fuse on it would crank normally. After putting the fuse in, it seemed that the starter was seizing up then it would start again. Tried cranking it a couple of times then my negative battery terminal started to smoke a bit. I'm thinking I didn't hook up all the grounds. I also heard this funky buzzing noise. Not sure what it was.

So to sum it up: vehicle cranked fine before putting the fuel pump fuse in, now the starter is seizing up time to time.

Any help would be awesome! thanks!

Sounds like you have a pretty serious wiring fault; maybe a short in the transmission harness to the chassis? Just a shot in the dark there, lol.
