so i bought some s13 ka24de cam shafts, i think they are jdm if im not mistaken. anyways, i was told in the past that the s13 de cams are thicker and stronger basically over all more aggressive. they were also to help your rpms rev quicker. now i have a s14 de with 170xxx miles. if i do swap the cam shafts i will probably have to replace the valve springs because if i didnt i might get "valve float" [please correct me if im wrong.]

so all in all im asking, would it be best with as many miles that are on my, existing s14 ka24de, to just swap the s13 ka24de camshafts, and possibly rebuild the whole head or, buy an sr20det?

let me know your thoughts, or comments.

There are no "JDM" KA24DE cams. They dont seem to be any 'beefier' per-se, but do give an extra 16 degrees of duration on the intake cam and an extra 8 degrees of duration on the exhaust cam. The nice thing is its a direct drop in, although install is more involved than a typical bolt on. The extra duration should help you to get more power out of the higher revs, and possibly rev up a bit better... Although I have yet to install my cams yet.

The intake has a green pain mark between the lobes, and the exhaust has an orange mark between the lobes -- at least thats how i think it works.

There are SR20 "JDM" cams though, so its best to make sure you know for sure what you have.

I cant say anything about valve float. I am doing a bunch of maintenance on mine over the summer as its at 165k miles. If you hear any timing chain slap, you might want to look into replacing that as well... Your car is around the time that needs to be swapped out.

Ahh, ****.... I forgot to say one last thing.

Good luck man, and welcome to NICO!
