So i'm looking at buying this nice s14, but it has no eletrical power at all. Batterys good and all those componets. Fuses are all good aswell. Is there anyway to tell if the ECU is bad? Thats what I seem to think it might be. When you turn the key nothing happens at all. No beeps, lights nothing! I went and looked at the car yesterday. Its super nice. I really want it but dont wanna get screwed! I've owned 2 s13's already and this would be my first s14. If anyone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

The guy that currently has it said he's went over and redone all grounds. The only thing he hasnt done are the relays. I asked if he checked the ecu and he said no. Which leads me to think it might be a dead ecu? I dont have the car in my possesion yet as I'm still trying to sell my v8 s10 to buy it. So I'm trying to find some answers out from my fellow niconauts!

Check the ignition relay's that are on the left side of the fuse box.. try getting some known good ones and putting them there.. or get a bunch from the junk yard...

To me thats what it seems like it would be considering nothing happens with the key is in the ignition or trying to start it.... If all go's right.... I should have the 240 in a couple days. Then I can really diagnose whats going on. Relays would be first though considering they havent been checked nor replaced yet. I'm sure it's something stupid.

Some picture's for those who would like to help... Sorry for the crap quality of the pics, but its all I got. I really wish this snow would stay away!! It's supposed to snow more this evening too. Its about 13 farenheit degrees out and I'm trying to source this issue. I have no garage and my car WAS surrounded by almost a foot of snow...lol. Yeah I got mad love for her! ;)

What is this red connector? It wasnt hooked up...

Also why does the plug on the left have two wires going into it but only one to the connector on the coolant temp sensor? I took it all apart and it seems theres some sort of loose wire not connected to anything and the other wire just loops back on to itself? Is this normal?

That red connector is why you aren't getting any power. Thats part of the alt. / starting system, which goes into the fuse box and through your Big 100A fusible link right there. Then, that power wire loops around the front, along the driver side and into the cabin fuse panel.

Connect that red clip back to the + battery cable and give it a shot. Hopefully that wil give you full power.

but it keeps dying cause the fan and all kick on right before you crank it. the fan shouldnt come on at all should it? it has a single eletric fan. it did start and run for a good 15 secs before dying.

Aftermarket Electric fan? It may be wired up to always be on when the ign. is ON. You might have to do some wire hunting/re-arranging. you could always unplug the fan for the time just so you can start it without that draw...just dont let it sit there and idle like that too long.
Also it sounds like your alternator isnt doing its job to provide power and only running off the battery. You probably need to get ahold of a volt/multimeter so you can check some of these basic electrical problems. But glad to hear it started up ok and everything works for the most part.
