need some help guys, also posted in online mechanic

put my ka24de back 2gether and fired her up and oil light is on. block is fresh out of machine shop, honed, new piston rings, new main and rod bearings.ka is firing up perfect no bearing noise. middle chain tensioner is makin noise since not enuf oil pressure to head.1-2lbs tops of oil pressure at sender even while reving.does no oil pressure at oil sender = bad oil pump? can incorrect bearing clearances lead to low oil pressure? i do not hear any noise comin from bottom end (bearings not gettin any oil should be audible) , only sound is from lower chain tensioner not gettin ne oil pressure.Do you have to seal oil filter assembly with any type of liquid gasket when reassembling onto the block? I had to mount oil filter assembly after gettin block back from machine shop and i did not seal it. Is there ne way to tell if bearing clearances are off other than breaking down the bottom end?

i think i know what youre problem is.

i read about it a few times, witht he exact same symptoms, and i almost did it when i rebuilt one of my KAs.

there is a gasket between the oil pump and where it exits, (or i guess if you removed the pick up tube) and you forgot to put it back in. the one im thinking of has a red oring on it and is made out of hard plastic, it fits between the lower timing cover adn the block i think.

either way you have to remove the lower timing cover to check it out. it looks liek a spot where you would just apply a liquid gasket, and thats what i did. but when i found the oring on the gorund i had to crack the motor back open.

so the pump is working and everything pending you didnt get a bunch of crap in the pick up screen somehow, but since there is now gasket in this location is spraying all over right there at the crank and cant develop pressure elsewhere.

i reall wish i could get you a picture, but i think you should start dropping the oil pan and pull the front timing cover, im almost positive thats oyur problem
