I have an S14 SR20DET in my 89 S13, when faced with the dilemma of which intercooler to go with everyone and his brother told me to go with the S14 intercooler because the manifold is higher on the S14 SR motor and the piping will line up.

Basically, never and I mean never try to do this. Don't let anyone tell you "it goes right in", the piping might fit but the intercooler is far from just going right in.

After hours of shaping, molding, cutting, and hammering on my front end ; I believe I have the intercooler mounted but in order for the bumper to fit it needs tons of CUTTING, like don't breath on it because it might cave in.

Sorry you had all that trouble, is this one of those NEVER try again things, or would it be possible for a company to make a kit for it?

Interesting, an S13 intercooler fit my S14 like a glove.

They should make a slightly different kit for people who prefer the S14SR in their S13 car, but I doubt there are very many people who make that choice, most go with the s13 redtop in the S13 240sx. From what I hear its easier to upgrade because you dont have the VVT in the way. Im finding out about this issue myself as I do more with this motor.

well I got it all in there, and its working great, but Im still trying to bend my light motors back into place and line up the bumper so it matches the hood.I must admit, the difference in performance is definately worth it. Less spool up time (lower lag) and more punch when that turbo hits. Now all I need is down pipe with a flange on it so i can mount my Greddy BOV, a boost controller, and a good AFC; then I can play with the boost a bit and be right where I want to be.

I don't think I'm going to do much more than about 300hp at the crank, I mean I'm sure its not good for a motor to be cranking out more than 150hp per Ltr. Any more than that, and I dont care what anyone says its not going to be a "reliable" car.

Thanks for the replys all
