Ok, I know I saw the info on this board, but now I can't find it. Anyway, I took off the Intake silencer on the below the bottom attatchment of the airbox. I do feel a better pick-up than I did before. For those who have a s14, I would suggest to think of doing this.
The stupid air intake is attatched to the grill of our cars, which isn't very effecient, and I took mine off (the box now has a tube that acts like a short ram intake. For a while, I believed the tubes that run down towards the bumper were cold air inlets - but lo' behold as I ran my fingers down towards the bumper there was no inlet for the cold air!! It was just a big stupid box. So I removed it, and there has been a significat pickup from the cold air running into the bumper.
What to do:
Jack your car up (of course make sure you have jack stands for added safety).
REmove your driverside front wheel.
Kinda open the dust guard that covers the wheel well. Just kinda pry it open, don't fully take it out. You just need to pry the portion leading to the bumper.
You'll see the stupid silencer there. There are three screws that hold it in. Remove them and put back together your car.
Surprised in the pickup gains! Not big, but very noticeable
