S14 idle/running issue

Hey guys,

I haven't been on here in quite some time (Had a few other cars since the 240's) but now I have an issue. My gf's s14 is having intermittent problems. On occasion (two times a week or so) when the car is started it will idle roughly then die. Once restarted a few times it will drive, but cuts off when driving as well.

I have a few things I want to look at, but I wanted to see what you guys though the problem might be.

On the occasions where the initial start up is how it should be, there are no problems at all.

LMK what you recommend. She's giving me hell about it.

Since it's cutting out when you're driving, maybe the ignitor or ignition coil? My friend's integra did that. In those cars, both are in the distributor. Replaced distributor, starts and runs every time. Also, check for vacuum leaks & cracked, broken, missing hoses. That would do it too.

Thanks. Checking vacuum lines and any obvious damage/ signs of abuse was the first thing I did. I'm going to replace the ancient fuel filter, and check the distributor cap and plugs tomorrow. I have to replace my sunroof motor on my car anyway.
