So today i installed my hood strut from an 04 Passat. I work at a VW dealership and have been keeping an eye on what struts would work the best.

The bottom bracket is supposed to be spot-welded on but i used two 10mm bolts. The top portion is just a bolt with a ball end. I cut the bolt in half so that it wouldn't push out the hood. Now you can drill the hole so that you can screw the bolt in or spot weld it. paint will not damage because you are spot welding it onto the frame of the hood.

Strut clears everything and works amazing.

Here is one pic that i was able to take (camera was dying)

When i got home a woman backed up into me on a toyota sequia, so much for the hood.

Parts numbers:

3B0-823-359-C - SHOCK - $571J6-827-439-A - BOLT W/ BALL - $223B0-823-401-B - BOTTOM BRACKET - $22

Prices are high for regular customers, it only cost me 45 bucks.

If anyone is interested in better pics, my camera is charging.

what are the chances that right after you do a mod to your hood some ***** comes and ****s up your hood. I also saw a writeup just recently on a bimmer forum about this, i'll go see if i can find it.

The woman should be shot in the knee cap. God the car still looks o so sexy.

And awesome way to mount the strut - I have not seen it that way before - but looks good!

Yeah, kinda off topic but not really - a toyota sequoia back up into my girlfriends car. They were at a red light and the woman had actually knocked it into reverse (yeah, don't know how when you have to push the button) and gave it gas as if she was going forward. How lame. . .

So if anyone has a 99 accord front bumper they might wanna sell give me a holler yo.

end thread/jack

I will snap some pics tomorrow, this strut is so powerful you don't need two. It opens geat in 30 degree weather. all VW parts have a one year warranty.
