Since the 1st cat after the exhaust manifold is getting removed to install the header.

I was wondering if I put a real cat where the 2nd cat is, (since it's apparently just a dummy cat) would it be legal?

Yea that's what I'm saying, do they consider that a cat or a resonator for legal purposes?

Sorry thought I put this in my first post... I'm installing a DC sports header. It removes the real cat to go down to the dummy cat. So if I place a highflow cat in place of the dummy one would it still be legal with the cat law?

depending on where you live. if you have smog tests or stuff like that, id keep the exhaust as close to stock as possible. cops are another issue. if they are really anal where your from, id keep it as close to stock as possible

What year is your car? On my 95 the first one is the dummy cat and the second one is real, so the header only replaces the dummy. If its an OBDII car or a Cali car though idk, they might both be real.

95, but it has the obd2 hook up under the dash on the passenger side.
So with your setup is it legal since you still have a cat in the oem spot, or do they count the dummy cat as an actual cat? It's an AZ car so emissions doesn't matter. I'm just wndeing about the removal of the cat law.

Well depends on what your definition of legal is.

If a cop pulls you over, I doubt he'll ticket or tow for not having a cat, cause you do. Legal

If you try and smog it with 5 cats on it and still fail. Not legal

on a 95, the first one (bolted to exhaust man.) is the cat. the second is a resonator. And depending on where you live, as long as you have a cat installed you should be fine. On my old s14, I ran a hotshot headers with a high flow cat bolted on at the flange at the end of the header.
