Well since I have sold the car (just verbal, no money or title exchanged hands yet) I was doing a little spirited driving one nice evening when the car started missing really bad under throttle. No problem, figured a sprak plug wire had fallen of the distributor cap like it had done before. Pull over and sure enough it had. Put it back on and crank the car back over and it runs fine, but when I pulled out on the road and gave it a hard load it about made me eat the steering wheel....explanation; it was boosting and coming on fine, but when it got to around 3200rpm it started cutting out and backfiring and wouldn't rev. I left off the gas and easily got back on it with a very light load and it would rev as high as I want. But when I give it a hard throttle load (probably 40%+ throttle) it wants to cut out and not rev anymore.

So, I for some reason I thought I was losing spark. I put new plugs in it (other ones had probably 10k miles), new plug wires, and a new distributor cap. Now the car runs damn good, but still cuts out. I am going to regap the plugs, but I dont know what else this could be. Some people think it could be a fuel pressure regulator issue as this one is stock. Any suggestions?

This is a turbo KA by the way. But, not sure this problem is turbo related...

maybe your fuel man, i was thinking the fuel pressure wasn't going high enough to keep up with the load..

maybe a clogged fuel filter, clogged injector..GL!

Also check for boost and vac leaks. Theres a " how to thread" on here on how to make a boost leak tester and how to test for it. Also how long have you had the turbo on the car? Did you install it youself and what is your setup? running a stock fuel pump is not a good thing to do.

KA-t for over a year. Wlabro fuel pump, never had any problems what so ever from day one. I am regapping my plugs tonight and will check a few vacuum lines. More troubleshooting will come this weekend.

.028" gap on the plugs. It ran better after I checked and regapped, but I'm 99% sure it's a boost leak. All the plumbing is getting taken off and gone through this week. I need to read that how-to on a boost leak tester....
