s14 guy wants to do the s13 thing

So I got this 98', and I'm thinking it's time for something new, how bout a good old s13 hatch. I like'em I really do. Problem is I don't know jack about the s13. I'm looking for just good technical stuff, like ease of swap etc. Flame me if you want, I jut can't find what I want to know with the search button. I love my 98' and have learned a wealth of knowledge on here. Can any of you guys point me in the right direction. Thanks all. Scott

The S13 really isnt all THAT different than the S14: you act like you're jumping into a whole new car. I admit it feels different to drive (better? haha), but the engines are VERY VERY similar, and the suspension and chassis isnt really all that different either. Check out the specs if ya like- S13s are where its at!

Thanks Fiznat,two questions though.1. S13 have lsd?2. what is this hicas stuff, I hear it sucks?

only hicas equiped haches came with a vlsd, hicas is an active steering sytem that turns the rear wheels, never had any experience with it.

that socal 240sx page I linked you to had a good discription of the HICAS system as well. Go to their main page, then FAQ-- that should answer some of your questions.

i've heard to steer clear of 240 HICAS (no pun intended). It doesn't always stay in phase with the front wheels, but since I haven't driven one, I can't tell you for certain how they act. Also, all canadian 240's came with a VLSD if i remember right (in case you're looking for a donor car to get a VLSD from)

98s are dead sexah.. but so are S13s. Then again, 98s are *definately* rarer, so if I were you'd I'd definately hold onto it.S13s have more head clearence for tall people though :D

Well, I'm selling my 98' for 12k. there are stock, I mean bone stock ones selling for 14k at dealerships. and I saw one for 13k that only had a body kit and rims...What is a 98' worth to you...if you had much much money

thes14project: everyone has their own opinions. i personally like S14s, others like S13s. dont listen to anyone telling you to keep yours if you dont like it as much as an s13. you can definately do some damage with $10k+ to work with an S13... only downside is you'll have to get a new name ;)

ah so true 240sxedup I mean I like my 98' no doubt....I love it in fact...But the idea of a nice s13 sounds so tempting...I let you guys know what I decide of course...

Incorrect. All canadian 240 after 1991 came with VLSD.
