S14 gas tank strap... I know this is probably an easy answer.

I have a small problem with my car. I have a 1995 Nissan 240sx SE. There is a strap underneath the gas tank on the passenger side of the car. Problem is that the metal strap busted out the nut that was holding it up to the gas tank. Do I need that metal strap underneath it? It's only been a couple of days but I'm worried that my gas tank will sag and ultimately break.

yup..id replace it...240 gas tanks are expensive... id just replace the strap.,.. its safer that way! and yes you do need the straps!
