Well I read in my FSM that the S14 gas tank holds 17 gallons. But everytime I bottom out my fuel gauge, I only fill up 13 or so gallons? Is the FSM inaccurate or is my fuel gauge just going the way of the dodo?

240s are known for their notoriously low reading fuel gauges. Mine goes a full 1/4 of a tank mark below the E line before I need gas. Some say it is a type of preventative measure to keep people from running out of gas. I came within a gallon once, but I was pretty worried before getting gas. I believe the light is *suppost* to come on with ~1.5-2 gallons left, so you can drive a "while" with the light on, if you really want to .

Yes, this has been talk about before. It seems a lot of the zenki s14's have fuel gauges that like to go out and give incorrect readings. The S14 tank is 17.2 gallons, so just go by the trip meter. I usually fill up at 16 gallons which is around 430 miles. You also have a low fuel light if you are unsure of how much gas you have left.

What?? there's a low fuel light? I just assumed there was no light or mine just doesn't work. I've put 16 gallons in before, but no light. I do love the look I get from passengers when my gas gage goes below E and I still pass by gas stations.

Haha, I was thinking the same thing. I never knew I even had a low fuel light...just figured Nissan was trying to pinch pennies...

I posted about my mileage on a trip this winter and everybody laughed at me. I filled up as soon as the needle hit the E, and it was only 11-12 gallons.

Now I go by the tripmeter and refuel around 400 miles. I dont think Ive made it over 15 gallons before...

I am! I usually refill around 300 and put 11-12 gallons in, but I don't drive economical at all. Maybe I should though gas is getting crazy again. I have like ~160 miles on my trip odo since my last fill, I am hoping I can hold out until this current price hike goes back down.

There is a recent thread discussing this. My light came on once when I was parked on an incline with the passenger side on the upslope. Other than that it has never come on even when I put in 16 gallons one time. I usually drive until at least 400 miles.

400miles? Are you guys on KA or SR? My SR is about 20 miles per gallon. So that means I can drive till 320 to worry about gas?

Well I filled up yesterday at 15 gallons after having gone 320 miles. So with 2 gallons left in the tank, I probably could have made it to 370-ish.

Well, I just made a trip from Indiana to kentucky. I drove 457 miles round trip, filled up before I left and put 14 gallons to fill it up when I got home. That's roughly 32 MPG hyw. Pretty good.

P.S. at that rate I could go 550 miles on a full tank

Damn, I only get 21 mpg city, and 28 mpg highway. I guess it really is tune up time.

Rewiring the grounding in your engine bay helps a little.

You mean in particular the ground wire for the MAF? I have heard of that myself.

In 4th gear?Man, I get around 35 on the highway...Around 27 in the city, unless I decide to dump a couple gallons around a few stop lights...
