Hey guys...I have a 96 240sx (automatic). I've had it for going on 8 months now. Ever since I've gotten it, the gas pedal has been sticking. It only happens when you start the car and first step on the pedal, after that it's fine until it's turned off then started again, and it starts all over.

When you push the gas pedal for the first time the car has a small jerk to it, but when you push it again it's fine.

Can someone please tell me how to fix it??????????

I think you should convert that to a 5-speed

I've had a similar problem. I traced mine down to the throttle body. Some idiot mounted the throttle cable incorrectly and it bent the throttle pulley. I pulled on it a little and it helped but it still sticks occasionally. I sprayed it with some wd40 and that helped too. There is also an adjustment screw that you can fiddle with on there but if you open it too much, your car will idle faster (cuz the throttle will be open a little bit)

So all I really need to do is check the cable and maybe "fiddle" with the adjustment screw?

It's actually build-up behind the throttle plate that does it. Take your intake tube off, put a brick on your gas pedal in the car, and spray some carb cleaner where the throttle plate rests when closed. Whipe it with a rag to get more of the build-up out of there, and whipe off the edges of the plate it's self. Had the same thing happen to me.

I second that. It's a sooty build up.Oh and if it sticks when you're in a turn...Just drift.

Haven't been able to do it yet, had something to do on Sun. And now it snowed here, so it might be a couple more days. But I'll let you people know asap.
