so under 1\2 tank of fuel my s14 chokes n basicly shuts off n the kicks back on( all in couple seconds) everytime bang 2nd gear or make hard turns..i assume this is a fuel tank pickup issue..i searched around and cant find a real soulution..i belive this is a common problem but idk if a walbro will solve the crappy intank pickup filter..anyone really solve this issue?

i have never heard of this.. you say it happens when you have a half tank or less? i would recommend you open your fuel tank and make sure that the pump is on its "shelf"

the fuel pump needs to sit on this little rack type thing. it is common that people cant get it back on so they just kinda toss the fuel pump back into the tank. so make sure that isnt what is going on. very strange issue.

ps i have owned 3 s14's and 2 of them the fuel pump wasnt in the right spot.

yeah take it out and put it back right using the FSM. That sucks that you have that problem.

thanx for the advice..i took it apart after reading this and the pump is secure but this enormous orange thing that i assume is my sending unit was loose and bobbling around..so i clipped it on the side and took it for a test drive being under 1/4 tank and no more cut outs..guess the unit was blocking the path or sumthing..still dont know why my low gas light never comes on but thats another problem lol

for me it took a long time for the gas light to come on. like the tank had to be really low on the gauge. kinda scary low. maybe keep a gallon of gas with you when your testing it. its possible your bulb is burned out..

i never ran out of gas in my 240's, but every time i did in another vehicle there wasnt any warning when it would be empty. like it would sputter for about a second and then just die. you would try to start it again and it might start for a second, but wasnt able to move.

i really think you have another problem going on. it doesnt sound like a fuel pump to me, cause if those go bad in my case they just shut off and sometimes they will kick back on, but its not rapidly. maybe your fuel pump sock is getting clogged. its possible that somebody left gas sit in it and it clogged?? might be worth checking out.

IF you replace the pump make sure you replace the strainer too.
