Allright guys, I've been reading as much stuff in this forum as I can and I am still having a little trouble understanding some things. I was hoping you can dumb some of this down for me because I'm new to this whole suspension thing. When I was getting some new tires put on at NTB the guy told me that I needed to replace my strut rods but I can't find anywhere where those are mentioned by you guys. To top it off, I took it to a shop where the owner has a 240 and he told me that I needed to replace my tie rods and torsion bars and all the bushings that come with.

I read the post about replacing T/C (Tension/Compression??) rod bushings because there was pull when braking and such which fits me perfectly but I haven't ever heard anyone mention T/C rod bushings.

Can anyone tell me what parts really exist under there for a 97 240sx??

t/c is the same as "strut rod" in many circles...it depends on the mechanics lingo.

run from the guy that told you to replace your torsion bars..you don't have any.

Hmm I think your mechanic is domestic/truck oriented as per the words he used.Torsion bars are tc rods (Tension Control rods)struts are your shocks. You can either replace the rubber bushings, with either energy suspension, pdm, nismo bushings. Or buy all together a new set of tc rods. The rubber bushing wears/rips apart and there is more flex. Example. http://www.pdm-racing.com/prod....htmlTie rods you can replace tie rod ends themselves or just get a new set most popular tien tie rods/ends. You should download the service manual and learn from there if you have limited knowledge, its online somewhere.

I appreciate the info, that helps a lot. So is there any reason to replace the rods unless they are bent? Do you just need to replace the bushings?

I guess essentially what I am wanting to do is upgrade my front suspension to get rid of that clunk and get my cornering back. That and get everything aligned properly. So if I replace the TC rods and bushings, tie rod ends, and sway bar bushings does that cover it? As long as I'm replacing stuff should I go for the whole package?
