I was driving home last night and my car would have trouble accelerating around 4k. I stopped and turned the car off and turned it back on. The car ran fine after that. This morning the car was running fine. In the afternoon it started to do it agian. The engine idles normal and accelerats normal up to 3500. After that I can floor gas pedal but will take forever to accelerate. The car will kindda bounce when it accelerates. Anyone have any suggestions? thanks.

Smoked clutch plate. The pressure plate might need replacing too, and you may have to mchine your flywheel. The same thing happened to me, I'm 99% sure it's your problem.

Ninjak's diagnosis definitely sounds like your culprit.

Check out Enjuku Racing for your parts. They seem to have very fair, competitive prices on everything they sell.

You shouldn't have damage from water unless you sprayed something you shouldn't have. I should hope your oil cap was on tightly and the dipstick was down securely. :)

You may have gotten water on a finicky sensor or something. I remember one time I sprayed down the engine on my Probe GT and for a few days afterwards it liked to die at idle and occasionally sputter when I gave it gas in low rpms. Eventually the problem went away on it's own.... I'm guessing when everything had a chance to dry out properly.

My money is still on a clutch issue, though.
