Hi Guys,

I have searched for over an hour but with very little results.

My buddy got an s13 sr20det engine with the harness, but instead of getting an SR s13 ecu (62), he got the J4 which is an S14 ecu.The question is, will the s14 ECU work using an s13 harness and engine or it won't start due to different pin out on the s14 ecu.Can it be done were to use the s14 ecu on the s13 harness. From what I have gathered, the s13 harness requires to be repinned.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

From what I am aware, the S14 ECU will not fit the S13 plug.

Silvia007,

I believe you are right, after the extra search yesterday, I got a diagram of both ecu plugs, s13 and s14 and the plugs seems to be different as they have different pin #s, So, what I believe, that the harness is also is an s14 harness,

So the question is, will the s14 ecu and S14 harness work on the s13 engine? if not, why?If it does work, would it be a problem since the s14 has a variable timing and the s13 isn't, any power loss or hesitation for example?

Thanks for your feedbacks.

J4 is NOT an S14 ECU. Its a 1997-1998 S13 SR ECU. If you ran it on an earlier model S13 SR (1991-1996) only the first cylinder would fire. It would just need to be repinned.
