s14 differential maintenance (VLSD)

I'm swapping a S14 subframe into my car, but while i have it out, i want to do all the maintenance. I'm going do the obvious, replace the brakes, wheel bearings, diff mount and subframe bushings, and i want to replace all the bearings and seals in differential. I have a few questions,
1. Some people recommended shimming the VLSD, how do i know if i should do this?

2. Does anyone know of a website that sells a full kit for the bearings and seals?

3. Would it be OK to powerwash the inside of the diff case?(once i took the diff out)

4. Is there any other general maintenance I should do before putting this subframe into the car?
