Hey guys,

I have been thinking about pulling out my cat and just running a straight thru design.

I have an APEXI N1 and this is what i have in mind to put in replacement of my cat.

My question is ...

1. will my car sound rice without a cat ? 2. will there be a noticable increase in power if I do this mod ? 3. will I get check engine lights coming on without a cat ?

Thanks guys

1. no the muffler is what controls the sound not the cat

2. a slight increase

3. YES, and if you are in Ca its a felony punishable with up to a $150,000 fine

1. Yes actually it does resonate sound. Pull your exhaust off and run the car with the cat and without it... HUGE difference. I run a side drafted exhaust on my 240 with a cat.. if I take it off it's WAY loud for the street. A muffler will help keep it down though.

2. Your OBD2 car will become retarded if it has a secondary 02 sensor in the cat. Shouldn't do it.

3. Run a testpipe with a heatshield on it. No one will know unless they're testing the car with a wideband at a ref station.

guess what homeweiner?you know where the cat is on s14?it's in the downpipe location.so, you need to take that piece of **** out by getting hotshot exhaust manifold or something.

yeah if you remove the exhaust of corse, but if you remove just the cat, the muffler should muffle enough of the sound where its not that bad. I thought open loop advances timing so its easier to ignite AF mixture
