My S14 bogs alot at higher rpms and throws a check engine light for the O2 sesor. I'm pretty sure the first cat is clogged. It's a '96 so i think the first cat is in the downpipe where it connects to the manifold, but before I tear my whole exhaust appart i would like to know for sure where it is. Also does anyone know a reason why i shouldn't just gut that first cat ( I know the check engine light won't go out untill i get an O2 simulator but will it drive normal).

if you're positive it's the first one, do it. leave the o2 sensor there though.

Yes its in the first car. From personally working on 95,96,98, 2nd cat before the catback is just hollow. As stated leave 02 sensor in there should drive normal.

are u sure its a clogged cat, because an O2 code wont let the system go into open loop, so its not trying to stay stoichiometric, instead it stays rich. An excesively rich AFR can cause a hesitation or stumble. Throw an O2 sensor at an O2 code. Usually a plugged cat will show a cat ineffic code. Is the O2 before or after the cat.
