Realizing I am setting myself up for potential abuse here, but I'll ask anyway.

Anyone with experience putting S14 232/232 cams into a 91-93? Yes I realize these are the weak-tame-crappy (take your pick of adjectives) cams, but my entertainment personally, is torque, not high-reving noise and fun (I have a boat that takes care of that urge).

My understanding, from a few hours searching off and on here at work (as I look over my shoulder to see who is watching me attempt to get away with this), is that the s14 cams are more mild and tuned for low-end (compared to S13) and that the high-end loss was made up for in removing the secondary butterflies and a more aggressive ECU (someone correct me if I am wrong? ).

My thoughts are, since I prefer low-end torque compared to high-revs, is to try s14 cams and give up some (or a lot of) top end, which I rarely venture to anyway, and gain a tad bit in the low end, which is where 98% of my driving is anyway. Most of my driving is squirting around town in and out of traffic and I dont often get out to the back roads and open it up, so I wouldnt be missing whatever high end I would lose. Anyway she's a vert, which of course came with the automatic, and will stay that way. I have found a way to alter the shift points, so I could potentially change the shift points to keep it out of the high-rev range anyway to match the cams.

Anyone have experience with this? What kind of torque increase would there be? Just how bad WOULD the high-end be? S14 cams seem to go pretty cheap, I may just pick up a set and play around with it and quietly answer my own question, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

The s14 cams are designed for better emissions purposes. You won't even notice the *maybe* 1 or 2 ft-lb difference down low, but you'll definitely notice the loss on the high end.
