s14 brake upgrade

I have the 4 bolt and don't really want to get rid of it for various reasons but i want to know if i can up grade calipers rotors etc. or do i have to get a 5 bolt to do any worth while upgrades.

I'm assuming you're considering the Z32 or Q45 brake upgrades? If so, then for those you don't need to switch to a 5 lug pattern. You can just re-drill the rotors for a 4 lug pattern. Some shops online offer the z32 rotors in a pre-drilled 4 lug pattern so you don't have to worry about drililng it yourself.
