Ok guys.... I have a 1997 240sx and I just recently had some brake issues. The story: I was driving home from work and suddenly my brakes started applying by them selves (brake sieze), Eventually my front brake completely locked up and there was nothing more I could do. To my amazment about an hour later they unsiezed and I was able to get my car home (I figured out my front brake pads were shot). The next day I changed all the pads and bled the brakes. When I applied the brakes now the pedal doesn't engage untill the very end . (I mean the very very end). My questions are why would it do this, and what can I do to fix it? I have no vacume leak and the brake fluid seemed clean.

P.s.I've bled the brakes 3 times since then, just to check for bubbles (none).

I posted this in the general 240 forum, but I'm sure this is a better place.

What kinda of brake fluid you using? Is the rubber in the resivor cap swollen? Possible fluid contamination?

No fluid contamination, and I'm using dot 3 synthetic (prestone I believe). Everything looks perfect, but its far from perfect. I just talked with a guy at enjuku and he said that the seals in the brake master might be going bad and its leaking, which causes the extremely soft brakes. I'm not sure if thats true or not, but I'm at the point where I might buy a new one.

PLease share anymore info if possible.

Yeah if the fluid is not contaminated and the seals arent swollen brake master is my thought as well.

Ok well I'm going to replace the brake master over the weekend, and I'll write back any info.

OK well just to keep people updated, I did replace the brake master and now the brakes came back. At first it felt no different due to improper bleeding, but now the brakes kick on bad ***.
