Ok guys.... I have a 1997 240sx and I just recently had some brake issues. The story: I was driving home from work and suddenly my brakes started applying by them selves (brake sieze), Eventually my front brake completely locked up and there was nothing more I could do. To my amazment about an hour later they unsiezed and I was able to get my car home (I figured out my front brake pads were shot). The next day I changed all the pads and bled the brakes. When I applied the brakes now the pedal doesn't engage untill the very end . (I mean the very very end). My questions are why would it do this, and what can I do to fix it? I have no vacume leak and the brake fluid seemed clean.

P.s. I've bled the brakes 3 times since then, just to check for bubbles (none).

How are you bleeding them? Taken a look at your master cylinder?

It takes atleast 2 people, but I'm at the brake caliper and I stick a clear tube in the bleeder valve and have someone pump the brakes untill 60% of the fluid is gone to check for bubbles and if the'res anything contaminating it (I've done this on all 4 wheels even though I feel it wasn't needed). And repeat the step as much as needed ( I keep the brake fluid filled). But I just realized there is a tech forum so I'm also moving this question over there.

To properly bleed the brakes, you need to start with the wheel furthest from the master cylinder, then work your way closer. (PR,DR,PF,DF)

And just in case I'm an idiot and/or wrong, I moved it to Tech for you.

cool didn't know about the order, but luckly it was done that way twice! I'm sure its not a issue with the fluid, but a part. If any one could point out what part it might be and have a decent backing, I would definently purchase the part and replace it. Oh and thanks for moving it to tech!

Oh also posted this on "nissan online mechanic" hehe. I need fast results haha.

it's your caliper pins. Make sure they're greased up under that little rubber accordian like boot.

Lucky for me I ran into the human auto dictionary (teddy @ enjuku) and he told me that most likely the seals on the brake master cyclinder went bad and they are leaking. I will try the caliper thing first (since it costs me nothing), but if that doesn't work, I'm going to go ahead and buy a new brake master cylinder.
