I have a 95 240sx that I autoX very seriously. I am currently the SM points leader in my area. I currently have Eibach Sportline springs and KYB AGX shocks. I want to step up to a full race coilover. I have looked at the JIC A2s and Cusco versions. I also looked at a set of Tein Drift spec coils but I don't know how well they will work for my set up. This car isn't my only transportation so I should be able to get away with a full track edition set. I'm wondering if anyone has a recommended Coilover they use. I want to compete at a national level in a year or so after I hit the 350hp mark and tuck a wider tire in the fenders. I do run 245/40r17 Hoosiers so Im not a newb at the sport so unless you race (Road or AutoX) please don't post on this topic. My suspension has also been tuned and I do all my own wrenching. Here is a link to my car, it's not updated as far as turbo and AutoX goes. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/636608

The main reason I'm looking to get a coilover set is so I can corner balance the car and have a higher spring rate to get rid of some unwanted flex, or roll in the car while cornering at higher speeds. Also with the higher spring rate the car won't shift as much allowing me to run wider tires while keeping the car low.

Thank you in advance,

first you should take a read here:http://farnorthracing.com/autocross_secrets6.html

(cliffnotes: any "JDM" coilover = crap for serious racing.)

then you should pick up a copy of the grassrootsmotorsports with the blue miata on the cover that has a story on the 240sx that won the scca pro national last year and check out what he ran.

Otherwise I dont have the experience with various coils to recamend. My megans were cheap and got the job done, i know they arent the best for serious racing.

Also, Even stiffer anti sway's will effectively give you a higher spring rate. Youve probably got anti sways but have you looked at their rates compared to some stiffer ones?

Thanks for the quick write up. I have read that article in Grassroots that mag is awesome. The editor actually decided to hook me up with a photo of my ride in the last issue. I will read the website you put up. Thanks,

I read that article its really good. I just get confused when reading a dyno chart on a shock. How does it work?

Also I see he really likes the Bilstein shocks which is what SPL uses for there set up I believe. SPL hasn't done me wrong yet, I might have to give them a try.

Yeah those are my street wheels on it, I run a set of 350z wheels now for racing those 18's are to heavy.

Speaking of SPL, I use their KTS coilovers with much success on my S13 autocross car (also SM ;-)

Previously I ran a 96 S14 in Stock, then DSP, first with Eibach prokit and Tokico blues, later with AGX on the same springs. Just so you know where I'm coming from...

While the KTS are still on the stiff side for autocross, the valving is divergent enough that you can adjust into a reasonable range near the soft end. I'm at 6/16 in front and 4/16 in the rear with the supplied 8/6 springs and Suspension Techniques swaybars.

Edit: Biggest surprise going to the uber low setup is the change in braking... much easier to lock the fronts without the weight transfer, so be ready for a flat spot or two until you work out the bias and/or lighten up the Flintstone foot...

I currently have the AGXs and Sportlines. I also have the Suspension Techniques Swaybar. I already have big brakes all the way around and have tricky brake spots. I can handle it:). j/kI am thinking of either the KTS ones or a custom set from Ground Control, but finding a great shock is becoming a small pain. I like my AGXs but I don't have anything to compare to.
