S14: bangin sound coming from my axles

Sometimes when I'm driving I hear a banging sound coming from the rear of the car. It usually only happens when I get on then off the throttle quickly. I jacked the car up, and it seems there is play in my half shafts(axles), meaning they can slide back and forth. It tried to recreate the sound by pulling on the axles. I succeeded. How do I get it to stop?

check all the bushing back there because it could have a bad one

Well since you're pulling up on your axle when it happens, it could be a bushing with your hub, or if the S14's have a similar shock setup as the S13's it may have a bearing on the shock that may be warn out. If that's not the case, good time to pull those CV joints and look at them.
