s14 backfire

i have a 95 s14 and for some reason whenever i let go of the gas, it back fires about 3 times, three spurts, any one have any idea why? has new plugs, and cables, help me out fellas. appreciate it.

Leaky injector maybe. Individually disconnect each injector from the wire harness. If the idle doesn't drop on one of em then it is pissing in fuel when its sposed to be closed. Replace that injector's o-rings or worst case the injector itself.

well it wasnt the injectors, tried out what you said, might be the cap and rotor not sure, just going to change em to make sure, any other suggestions?

you could be running rich. or your cat could be gutted. do you have exhaust?

yeah it has an aftermarket magnaflow performance exhaust.

How severe is the backfire? Are we talking firecraker bang or just a little pop?Once I took out my cat (back when she was NA) I would get a string of little pops while decelerating in gear right as the engine neared about 1500rpm.

I doubt it has anything to due with the ignition system. Next thought would be primary O2 sensor or MAF since they directly control the fuel mixture. Mine went out at around 120k mi.

Sounds like the MAF or o2 sensors

just stock engine and all, no boost, just a simple pop, nothing huge,

Is the Ecu throwing any codes?

didnt think about checking that, going to have to check that out too. any i should look out for that shouldnt be there?
