How hard is this? How expensive is it approx ? Im having a hard time finding a nice S14 with low/average milage that hasnt been modded and has a 5sp. Im really getting annoyed with the abundance of autotragic trannies out there, and figured i might as well just give up on that since i planned on going with an aftermarket engine an transmission in the future anyways. I just dont like the idea of installing the hydraulics and cutting the firewall for the pedal and what not.

Screw 5spd. Turbo your auto. Ask 95silviase how much of a pain in the arse it is to get all the parts and everything. He is about to go insane.

(yes, this is 95silviase, not cnichols) :D

I cannot stand driving an Auto. Shift points are all wrong. Car drives itself. It takes away from the driving experience. I dont know how anyone can manufacture a sports car with an auto.:rolleyes

The 5 speed conversion was very easy. You just need to gather the parts. The best way is going to the junkyard and pulling all the parts yourself. Nick

someone should mention what he will need. I have never done the swap so i wouldnt know all the parts. If you use the search button, i remember a thread on this not to long ago.

screw the 5-speed, go with a auto. i have a 92 180sx with a brnad new ka, and it shifts very well, when i get on it, it gose to the red line. ive beat a lot of 5-speeds also, so just go with a auto and get a shift kit

you will also need clutch and pressure plate. you won't need to change the brake petal, just cut the petal down and save yourself a headache. You don't a manual transmission harness unless you want backup lights. Just connect the speed sensor and bypass the neutral saftey switch. I also had a very good auto transmission but i hate driving auto. Nick

A 5-speed conversion for a 240SX isn't for the mechanically inept. I would estimate that all the parts needed for the swap would run about 800-1000 depending on where you shop at. If you do choose to follow through with your idea, you should check out this link.

The five speed conversion only cost me 250 out of pocket expences and supplies like brake fluid. Nick
