I just got 95 s14 with premium sound package. I installed my 2 year old pioneer deck and my infinity 6.5" 625i reference series speakers all the way around. Everything is hooked up right except I had a couple of plugs left over. My deck has power but I get no sound. I know the stock speakers worked with the other deck because I heard the old ones work. The older sony deck that was in the car used all the plugs. I don't want to rewire the whole car and would like to use the factory amps seeing how I am not going to be pushing anything serious. What should I do to get power to the amp? Can you tell me which wire colors do what? Engines and cars I know, wiring is still a little out of my reach because of my lack of experience. I am a friend Greg's (azhitman) he thought I might get some good help here. Thanks

Hard to say what the previous "kit" did, as the older sony was using it and working okay??

One thing you might try is to get an idea of what wires on the sony were attached to the now unused wires.

Just so I'm clear, the old system was using speaker level output to feed the existing speakers?

First and foremost you really want to bypass the factory amps. They are not designed to work with any aftermarket headunit. Is your antenna plugged into the deck? This is critical!! Also, you might want to check the ground wire to make sure that there is a good connection. If my memory serves me correctly, Pioneer decks have a ground wire that has a spade terminal at the end. If that has not been cut off... try a sturdy screw somewhere behind the deck in the dash. Check those and get back to us!

My friend had the same problem on his 01 galant and he needed to get a cable that plugs into the wire coming from the amp and the other end is audio cable that you plug into all 4 audio out outputs on the deck. it aslo has a blue turn on amp wire coming out of it to connect to the deck's amp turn on wire. hope it helps just go to best buy and say you got a factory amp and they will tell you what to do

I actually got a hold of that faq from 240sx.org I rewired it as per the instructions, eliminated the power antenna, put my non-power mast in, eliminated and removed the amps. It worked really well. I have power to everything now including the tweets. It wasn't as hard as it sounded. Thanks for the input.

Which Pioneer model do you have? Most amplifiers that are built into the cd players are not capable of running the low impedance of factory speakers from premium systems like in the S14. The factory rears are 2 ohm speakers. the fronts are allright because you can run the front left and front right woofer/tweet in series to equal 4 ohm load per channel. But the rears could damage the ouput IC on you headunit/cd player. However if you have the factory amps still and your pioneer has at least 2 preouts you can run low level signal to the factory amps using some RCA style adapters in the dash between the pioneer and the plugs for the factory HU. I would replace all the speakers and use the built-in amp for your Pioneer, or better yet get an aftermarket 4 channel amp. Amplifiers aren't just for higher volumes or greater SPL. They also provide for much richer sound and less distortion at lower volumes.
