Hey Everybody,I'm gonna pull my engine soon and replace some seals as well as some other stuff. I've decided to pull the entire AC system. I wanted to know what the part is called and the part number that I see in the manual that connects the blower to the heater core to replace the AC core. Mine is a 1997 240sx se 5-speed if that helps. Also, any tips on removing the system? I thought I saw a right up on this related to weight reduction a while ago, but after 30 minutes of searching I can't find it again. So please help with:

Part Number and Part Name of Non-AC heater duct thing

Tips on removal

Links to write-ups

Thank you

Thanks navysnail, I've never used or noticed the articles section. Are those different from forums? If so, it's too bad search doesn't look in there. I now have about an hour searching for this, but I guess that's only forums. I'm gonna look on other websites also, maybe I saw the weight reduction write-up on another 240 site. I'll post whatever answers I find. But until I post an answer, all of my questions still stand. Anybody have tips? Part numbers? Links? Thanks in advance...

Wow, I guess everybody lives in the desert and loves their AC. I've now spent many hours and several emails on the topic. I emailed Courtesy Nissan and they are trying to tell me there's no such thing as a heater duct. There is a rather clear picture of this imaginary part in the crappy Chilton's book and in the Factory Service Manual, but no one seems to know anything about it. Hey moderator type person, is this post visible or in the right location? I must be the most insane 240 owner because I'm the only one who wants to take out my AC. If I don't hear from anyone, I'm gonna make a heater duct out of paper clips and duct tape. I bet it works. If I can borrow a digital camera, I might even do a write up. Thanks to navy snail for at least acknowledging my existance.

I answered my own question. Forget the heater duct. Just rip out all the ac stuff in the engine bay, take apart the dash, pull the ac box chunk, gut the box and plug some holes, put back the hollow ac box case, put back the dash. By the way, the ac system was fricken heavy, so weight loss is a plus. Removing the ac radiator seems to have improved the efficiency of the cooolant radiator. I found out why i hated ac, there was no freon or whatever in the system due to a cracked pipe, so it never worked anyway. Finally I now have an auxilary idle air control valve that I can manually control just by pushing the ac button. Neat-o. No one really could help me with this, but, now if someone else searches, they may find my notes and maybe I will have been some help.
