Will aftermarket tweeters fit behind the A pillars in the stock location on an S14 SE? The FAQ says the stock ones are 3/4", so would any 3/4" tweeter fit? How are they attached to the A pillar?

I have a base model and want a clean, OEM looking place to put the tweeters. I'd prefer not surface mount them or cut holes in my dash. I'm asking cause a local guy is selling a set of A pillars from an SE, and I'm wondering if I should pick them up.

I just installed 1" infinity's in the stock S14 SE location. It took some finaggling but I got them in there with a clean install. If you want I can take some pictures for you.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I'd like to see pics I you already have some. Dont go pulling the a pillars off just for me. And for reference, what model of Infinity tweeters do you have?

Well, I didn't have any pictures taken so I just popped it off real quick. They are Infinity Kappa tweeter's (I'm going to use TW- for the tweeter's from now on so I don't have to type it out every time) that came in the component set I purchased for the fronts. I had factory TW's but I didn't want to hack the stock harness so, I just ran new wires from the cross-over to the TW location (which happened to be the biggest pain on the install), and you'll have to do that anyways if you don't have stock TW's.

1. I removed the factory TW and used a supplied TW holder to position where I wanted them. I used a nail to mark where the mounting holes would be and used a small drill to drill the holes.2. I was planning on using the screws that came in the kit but they ended up not being self tapping and the metal on the a-pillar is quite thick. So, I used rivets instead. I made sure the rivet was as deep as it could be in the mounting frame and popped them into place.3. Once the frame's were mounted, I installed the TW and ran the wires through the slit in the TW frame. I then had to trim the plastic grill that is actually behind the wire grill on the a-pillar covers. I cut the entire thing out as it really didn't do much anyway. There is a little lip that the metal grill actually rests on so becareful not to cut that off. I reinstalled the metal grill and popped the a-pillar's into place.

Everything went smooth and it ended up being a clean and very simple install, once I figured how I was going to run everything and hide all the goodies. Sound quality has change dramatically. The only thing left to do now is install and aftermarket headunit so I can crank the jams up louder and install a sub which I will do in the short future.

Let me know if you need anything else. I'm also going to attach 2 other photo's.

Last one with a-pillar cover in place. You can barely make out the bigger tweeter hiding in there...

You rock, Glenn! Thanks for the pics and the write up. I missed that set of A pillars for sale, so I'll have to catch another pair. But I'll definitely let you know when I'm ready to try this. Thanks again...
