My S14 came with ABS. It's been disconnected since my first RB20DET swap years ago. I currently have an RB25DET. Today I discovered the plugs to the ABS harness that I thought had been cut off of the harness in error. There were 3 plugs for the ABS unit and 3 matching plugs for the harness.

Here is the problem...

One of the plugs with two wires hooks up fine. The other two are keyed so they only connect a proper way. The top and bottom will match, but the left and right are opposite so they won't plug in? This is true for both of the two remaining plugs.

Any ideas here? I'm curious if these three plugs are from the R33 and that's why they don't match up perfectly with my S14 ABS? I am going to try and trace them tomorrow, but I always thought the ABS was a sub harness that was untouched from a swap.

My google searches are indicating that this needs to be converted/wired up. Ok... So I guess I need a pinout showing the differences so I can repin them and make them match up? Kind of confused here.

At first glance they look like they match up, but then if you look close they are backwards?

The two above match up ok.

Here is the whole mess.

looks like you have a mix of s14 and r33 plugs there...you need an s14 abs harness for the proper plugs as the r33 uses different plugs.

Thanks Carl. So if I can track down the plugs I need, are the wires the same or do they need to be spliced/re-pinned? I've been scouring my FSM and I'm not showing the pinouts (yet).

easiest thing to do is to find an unmolested s14 wiring harness with abs. then take the abs plugs and strip them back. do not cut ANY wires. you'll find that it is basically independent of the rest of the harness and you can just directly transplant it into your car. otherwise, you need to look through the s14 FSM and wire it from scratch.

Awesome. The quest begins for an unmolested S14 harness with ABS... I have a feeling that is easier said than done. =)

From the left, you have the front RIGHT wheel sensor, it's two wires, it would be in the engine bay, right next to the front strut tower wall, down on the frame rail.. the second connector, it's got like 8 pins on it, that connects to the rest of the ABS sensors.. the three black ones on the right plug into the ABS module, if you took your ABS module out, then they aren't needed. The one you said that hooks up, that's the power for the ABS module

*EDIT* As far as don't cut ANYTHING.. on your original KA harness there are 5 extra wires, a yellow/red (just ties into TACH), 3 various green wires (they go to TX, RX and CHK on the consult) and there's a black wire (common ground), so you will have to cut these off, at the least tie it back into your RB harness TACH signal, but if you are using consult you'll have to hook those up..

I finally found the ABS plugs on the S14 side for the harness to connect. However, they were clipped from the harness (not removed as a sub-harness like you suggested). Does anybody have any information on the wiring and/or pin-outs for the plugs so I can splice or re-pin things together?

I ended up going with a Wiring Specialties Harness to eliminate the hack job of a mess on my old harness.
However, I'm suffering from some wiring anomalies with my S14 setup (likely due to two engine swaps).

I'm having trouble locating the power connector that plugs into the ABS unit.

Please pardon the messy battery plug, as it's temporary until my new 90 degree connector arrives.

#6 is the plug for power coming from the ABS unit. I do not see a plug that matches it. I think #5 might have been that plug, but it's been cut...

I've read and re-read the FSM. I must be missing something here?

Mystery solved.

I found my ABS plug under my catch can tucked in the fender in front of the fuse box. I routed it under the fuse box to connect it and ABS is now working. The wires in #5 are actually spliced together as the short-cut way to go from Automatic to 5spd swap. I'm getting the plug for these so that the car has a proper neutral position detection for starting.

Sorry the mystery was not more exciting. Long story short - if you want a swap with ABS you can either figure out all of the wires yourself (honestly I gave up on this) or you can get a harness from somebody like wiring specialties. I got mine from Raw Brokerage (great deal).
