Ah... currently this is my first post... So don't hurt me if this topic have appear more then once! =P

Anyway... I was wondering how much it cost to modify a s14 with a s15 headlight conversion, sr20 engine, and other stuff that may be included in the modification.. I'm just wondering how much it cost the s14.5 owners to make these modification... I keep hearing 20k plus and such from ebay users... I don't think it should be at the price range.. So im just making sure... Also the price range varies between self and shop pricing...

If you want it more specific... My idealistic s14.5 is pretty much listed above but like with a sparco steering and a set of sparco evo bucket seat w/ the bar. Carbon fiber with silver paint job. Other mod such as body skirt and such are a little to specific... So I haven't listed, but just a estimation will do

If this topic is been discussed more then once then..

Sorry for the inconvience

Im gona give you base estimates, dont quote me on any of this just trying to get you in the ball park. It really all depends on who you take your car to, and how much work your willing to do yourself.

You can get an s13 sr20det for right around 2k-2.5k. Give or take a few hundred depending on the mileage and condition of the engine. Make sure you buy a complete swap, with ECU, MAF, Ignitor chip and all. However, if you cant do the swap yourself, your looking at 1000 and up for a mechanic to do it for you(this price really is your killer, it can be anything. If you cant do it yourself, get a bunch of quotes on the price for the labor. Its a really common swap, depending on where you live)

To do the s15 front engine conversion you need a few things. You need a new hood, new fenders, headlights, front bumper, and a radiator support( i think..). You can pickup the hood, fenders, and front bumper on ebay for right around 1000-1500 bucks, maybe a little more depending on the quality. I wouldnt cheap out and get strait fiberglass, you will regret it. The headlights new are about 600, used for less. Iv seen the radiator support between 100-300 bucks. IMO you can do all that stuff yourself and save alot of cash.

That puts you in the 5-6g range, your going to need atleast 2k more for everything else. If it seems cheap, its because i really have no idea how much a mechanic would charge you to do that swap. I dont think swaps are hard at all, iv done a few so, my 1000 dollar estimate is probably way off.

Your right though, 20k is way to much for this swap people have done it at half that price, and even less than that.

Also, since its your first post i want to introduce you to the blinking red SEARCH button at the top of the page. Before you ask a question, use the search button first. Typically, any question you have has already been asked and answered. Since this information however is kinda dated, and fluctuates from year to year, i decided to give you an estimate based on what i have seen recently.

you can slash ur price even lower if you know how to do a good amount of mechanical and body work. you can do the front end swap yourself if you have the equipment, ability etc....but yeah 20k is too high.

my motorset from jdm-online was 2200 shipped to my door, 250 for my plug and play harness, and s15 front end was another 2000 shipped to door as well. The front end conversion got me new s15 lights, fenders, vis cf hood, and front bumper. The body pieces other than the hood are FRP and have a couple fitment issues, but 90% of the time you are going to run into that problem unless using OEM parts, or getting a high quality kit. Labor was free for me since me and a friend have done everything as far as installs go. so I'd say you could get it all done for close to 6 without doing any labor yourself, depending on where you go.
