Hello, let me thank you beforehand... Your help is always appreciated.

1996 240sx with 78k miles

Could you please give me how long it would take for the dealership to change knock sensor + knock sensor harness?

What about just knock sensor harness?

Thank you!

P.S. I tried doing this my self and what a PITA!!!!!

it really depends on who does it. my service writer would prob quote you 3 hours with the harness. just the harness she would prob quote like 2. of course it could be done in less. welcome to the world of smiling to the nice man while you pick his pocket.

also, thanks for the kind words friend.

Thank you.

Im assuming that they are taking the intake manifold off to do it... I know that maybe you have not done this specific job but how long would it take you?

Also, do you know an easy way of changing the sensor out w/o moving the manifold? I tried the guide here http://www.240sx.org/faq/articles/knock_sensor.htm but that did not work that well...

thanx again.

remove the manifold? ouch, that jacks up the labor. it has been a while and i dont entirely remember. if i just reach up in there and get scratched up then the above quote should be close. if i had to remove the manifold then the labor would be more like 6 hours.

shoot bro, i just looked in the fsm at the knock sensor and found it is not where i thought it was. i thought i remembered it being by the oil pressure sending unit and the pcv valve. its not, its in a really bad spot. i think removing the manifold may be the way to go. if the method in that link works then thats great but i can tell you now that it would be hard to do. if it was mine, i would try to get something else to drive or get a day off from work. then i would get the intake manifold gaskets, pcv valve, knock sensor, harness(btw, i thought the harness had to be soldered but i was wrong, i now see its a plug in deal, can you tell i dont see too many s14's in the shop?), and some various hose stock and such. then i would yank the manifold and try to do as much stuff as i could while the manifold was off. thats just me, i like to fix stuff that aint broke.
