i just bought a new engine harness today for my S13. single cam to dual cam.
the harness connector under the dash is not compatible with the engine harness. ecu is connected. everything under the hood is connected.
what purpose does the connection AFTER the ECU connection play? it seems to me that it wires to the dash. does it also connect to the ignition switch or is that seperate?
the car is a 89 240sx coupe. S13 KA24DE. S14 head. engine harness is from a 92 S13 hatch.
just wondering if theres a difference and what year/model dash harness will i need?

i have another module thats behind the ecu but my engine harness doesn't have any plugs that plug into it. do you have that module? and for that plug your talking bout going into the dash i either took the old plug from the old harness pulled out the wires and pins and shoved in the pins from the new harness.
theres the picture but i use the plug from the new harness.

is the color coding the same between the 2 harness connectors?
the first pic in drft204's post. my interior harness connector is white and the one for the enine harness is brown.
the car started with no problems watsoever. everything worked except for the RPM tach, dash lights on the left and there may be more than i wasnt paying attention to

yes they're colour coded. you can jus splice em as well. but my gauge cluster lights flash 5 times when i turn the car on with the headlight switch on and then the cluster light turns off after. none of my gauges work as well. but what about that second picture. have you seen those wires before or that module?
