im thinking about getting a widebody kit for my s13. i was wondering what you do with the stock fenders/quarter panels... do u just put the kit over the stock fenders, or do you take them off...

also what coil over system is the best for daily use during the week and track use for the weekends

If you buy fender flares, they get molded onto your stock fenders. If you buy a whole new fender thats say...20mm wider, or 40mm wider, it replaces your entire fender.

As far as your other question goes, use the search button in the top right corner of your screen. There are countless threads and various feedback on tons of different coilovers and spring/shock combo's. Check out the Tire and Suspension forum as well.

thanks.i was talking about the whole new fenders. does this apply to the rear quarter panels also? meaning cut away the metal fenders and replacing with plastic or would you just put the plastic over the metal

With the rear quarters, most quality widebody kits are going to be a whole replacement for the rear. I would not try to do this yourself. A qualified body shop should do it. I have once seen a widebody rear quarter where you mold it on over, but I would not recommend that, or at least for a daily driver.

As for the front fenders, widebody fenders are going to be whole replacements. So you take the stock ones off, put the new ones on. Typically the fenders will be fiberglass. For fender flares, I believe you cut away the area that will be covered up, then mold the flares over, otherwise if you leave the metal underneath and run a wider, lower offset wheel, you're tires will be rubbing on that metal.

Yes, it technically stands for Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic. Be careful in where you buy from. A lot of companies make very crappy products that will cost you a fortune to have modified and reworked just to fit. Even big places. If you want a widebody, I would recommend doing it right the first time and buying a name brand that stands behind their products.

On this topic, you will not find a body shop that will cut into rear quarter panels, or shouldnt rather. I put a 10 piece widebody on my 2001 s2000. the front fenders were replaced completely, but the rear quarters are capped and molded. Cutting away from the rear quarters, or replacing them all together would seriously degrade the integrety of the frame, hensforth, I have never seen it done that way. I had the work done 2 1/2 years ago and have not had a single problem with the molding of the wide rear quarter caps!!!

you don't cut out the whole thing, just a piece around the wheels, some cars are different, but say on a 240sx s13 hatch there is some room there where you can cut out metal and it won't affect anything.... because nothing else attaches to it..... cutting out an inch or two of metal out of your wheel well makes a big difference in what you can fit.......

especially if your just running fender flares, on the front you can pretty much cut out however much you want.... it will make no difference at all
