Hey

got myslelf a 1991 180sx and i was in the process of stripping and coating the complete rear part of the floor and the hatch ..

rear is still stripped and coated and i still have a rattle when i go over bumps ..

it's not the licence plate for sure and i can't locate the rattle even if i punch around the rear area of the car .. and not the exhaust.. any ideas?

so my question to you is : What makes your S13, S14 rattle?!

i had a connector for my antenna rattle, one of my muffler hangers would rattle at a certain rpm, that got to me....and i dropped a small wrench down in that little crevice behind the rear wheel, that rattled.

Exhaust/catalytic converter heat shielding. Take it off.

i think all s13's rattle... haha

joking aside.. antena area harnesses all kinds of objects to come loose and rattle. Lift your hatch and move it up and down to listen for anything in the rear of the hatch lid itself that may of fell loose. There are metal sound protective sheets that are some times inside the quarter panels that my come loose. Check the exhaust system as well, rocks, hangers, catalytic, sheilds, they all make noises.

Good luck. Better searching for a noise than an electrical short.

The best way to get rid of a cabin rattle like that is drive it with a friend in the back looking for the rattle as its happening.

NO! .. the hooker stays there! she's been a bad bad girl

i took a mirrow and took a look inside my rear fenders.. found the power antenna touching the fender .. the paint shop had removed it last year to paint the car .. but did a really s***ty job of putting it all back together. Only one of the two bolts installed + a 100cc worth of silicone under the antena mast ( my antenna always looked a little off to me, but never really cared)

now my antenna sits right .. but it doesn't have much pressure on the antenna seal .. worried about water going in

I have some rattle but i know what it is. I have a coupe and the tension spring that helps hold the lid up smacks itself and the other rattling, it I'm working on re-carpeting the parcel shelf since I got the new lid and so the speakers are just sitting there and the bolts aren't that tight.
