So today I snagged a mint set of Sportmax 501s...black spokes....for cheap. They are 15x8 +15 offset. What would be the best tire size? They're 15"s so I know I need some rubber to not look like I'm ridin on skateboard wheels. The wheels will sit till I get my coilovers so I can close the fender gap and not be on 4x4 status. Thanks for any input.

depends if you want stretched or notid say 195-205....maybe a 215

really depends what YOU want

8 inches = 203mm which would be a 205 for a flush fit

Note that my car won't be sitting on the ground....just wheel gap closed. Wouldn't 195/50 be a small sidewall? I'm new to the wheel game :/

Be baller and stagger some tires. 205/55/15 front and 225/50/15 rear (or 205/50 and 225/45). Or you could run 225/50 all around.

Contact patch ftw.

All depends on the sidewall.

I run 205/50s on my 501s, but they're 16s.

And to add to my comment, an 8" wide wheel is actually wider than 8."

This is because a wheels width is measured from bead seat to bead seat, not lip to lip.

And come to think of it, 205 is no where near flush. You need to redefine your meaning of flush.

My favorite size on 16x8 is 205/50. I know a guy with an s13 with 16x8 Rota grids and the tires fit perfectly...but I'm lost with the 15x8 wheel. I don't want the tire to be too small and look like a Mexican lowrider. I don't want to overpower the wheel either with a huge tire either. I think I might stagger tires possibly. (Good idea) Anyone got any pics of tire sizes on 15x8? I'm still searching for a good reference on the interwebs

That's a good idea...hmmm 205/55 and 225/50...I'd like to see that.

Here's some 225/50s on some 15x8 sportmaxs with a 0 offset I like that you don't have to dump the hell out of the coils to close the fender gap. Wonder how much smaller 205/55s would be on the front....

Ok, so after some deliberation I'll either be going with 225/50 or 225/45. The difference is the 45 series is 1" shorter in overall diameter and 50 series is a little bit taller than stock diameter tires. My thoughts are that I would have to go even lower with 45s to close fender gap and not as far with 50s. I also don't want to look like I'm rolling on skateboard wheels. Thoughts anyone?

I know this thread is old but I figure I would update it to kind of round it off.
I went with a 225/50/15. Kumho Ecsta AST's. Here's some pics...they aren't on the car because I haven't put my coils on yet and I'm not 4x4ing on aftermarket wheels....

With the old exhaust on...switched to a single. If anybody lives near Nashville...I'm selling the dual...time for a change.
