s13 vss - ka cluster

been searching and just wanted to clarify something.... would a s13 vss in a rb20 transmission work with a s14 cluster?

The sensors and gears are the same except for the way they connect.. The S14 has a female connector to receive a plug while the S13 has the wire coming out of the VSS with a male connection at the end. If it were to work you would have to splice it in.. I'm not sure if it will work I have tried an S14 vss with a plug and some wire and spliced it to the S13 speed wire and it did not work..Then again when I tried this the cluster in the car was not the best and could've been bad.

I did some more digging and found that the s13 and s14 vss's are NOT interchangeable. So now that I know I MUST have the s14 vss.... Does anyone know if I need to use a S14 automatic or manual transmission vss?? The cluster in my s14 is from an auto as the car originally was, however i have a 5 speed rb20det in the car now!
