what are the advantages of one over the other..ie wieght, speed, handeling. i've seen few s14's but they seem bigger. are they more prone to body roll? also do they have more interior room over the s13?

weight, speed, and handling go to the s13. Interior, not sure but I'd guess the s14. And as far as personality goes s13 has more heart, and integrity

I'd argue about the handling. Both should net similar results. The S14 has a stiffer chassis as well. The S14 is maybe about 100 lbs heavier, and the cam profile tends to get milder the newer you get thought out all DOHC 240's. Though, they are all rated with the same HP. The S13 is a bit more crude IMO. The S14 is much more civil and perhaps more luxurious. Not that that says much. Trunk Space in the S14 sucks, since there is a large obstruction where the gas tank sits.

I've owned both and can't choose, but I have an S14 now as my S13 was a bit too crude for dating. But my S14 is starting to get that way now. =P

i have noticed that the s14 does seem to be more refined. the s13, although i do love it, seems even is its highest form to be a little "crude". the s13 styleing seem a little dated in the respect that it seems like a mid 80s high end sports car, but the s14 seems almost like nissan moved a bit from sports car. but still kept many sporty aspects. did the s14 come in more forms? such as more features.

I think the s14 looks more different than better. S13 is sportier and S14 looks more luxurious. But I guess this all is just IMO

A buddy of mine who races solo 1 in these parts said the s14 feels much more stable in the turns at higher speeds.

its all a matter of personal preference and cash since the specs are almost identical.

i personally think the s13 looks more sporty. and the s14 looks more family friendly. as far as handling and performance, i'd bet they are very close, since they have the same engine and very similar layouts

the s14mc looks very sporty and agressive. the s14 is alittle tamer looking. the s13 silvia looks agressive. People say they got the s13 over the s14 because of performance, but i think they really get it because its cheaper than the s14. I wouldnt mind having both.:D

I own a s14(97' 240SX), and I'll have to say the S13 looks nice when fixed up right. But to say it looks better than an s14 is pushing it to far. The S13 looks to plain from the front and its shape somewhat resembles the old RX7s. Not to mention the hideous flip up lights compared to the s14's amazing shark eyes. So amazing that honda owners pay thousands of dollars just to get those lights on their cars. End of conversation.

Repo Man: I think he was referring to the heritage and acclaim the S13 has received over in Japan.Maybe I'm wrong...

The s13's cost 3k less than the s14's where I've been looking...so, I'll be going with the s13's.

I think there is ALOT more truth to this than they would admit!

For my money, the s14 is better in EVERY aspect. Engine wise, it's not even worth discussing, they are nearly identical.

The s14 is slightly heavier, and contrary to popular belief, this helps performance. It also has a wider and slightly longer wheel base, again helping performance.

Styling is personal and completely subjective, in MY opinion the s14 looks about a decade ahead of the s13.... but they are BOTH sexy as hell!!!!!!

I don't want a hatch or fastback, so that rules out 90% of the s13s for me. I would, however, love to have an s13 coupe because they are more rare, and it's almost like a sub-culture here for s13 coupe owners... they have the ugly-duckling.... but it is such a cool car!!!

Out of the 2 i pick other: S15. It spanks in both preformance and styling. But if it came down just the 13 and the 14 I'd still get the 14 because the engine bay is bigger, and they both handle much the same

S13 looks::( a little less refined in comparison to the S14, stock wheels are hideously small and thin, pop up headlights are kind of stupid looking, no back seats to speak of (I don't really mind that, but that's just me)

:) I LOVE this car's lines, Pivot lazy-eye kit or eastbear headlight conversion can take care of the pop-up headlights, wide wheels with fender flares just look unGodly sweet, it just needs a little work to make it look really nice. Seems to have more JDM body kits than S14 (might be wrong about this though)

I'd say something about the performance and handling, but I've never driven an S14, but I would love one of those too. And I know I'll probably get flamed for this, but to me, the S13 just seems to have a more distinct essence to it, but that's just probably because its been around for longer. I still love and 240sx though, as long as its done right. BTW, does anyone know the difference in weight distribution between the S13 an S14?

The silvia is like 57/43, I dont know about the 240 though... I'd imagine it being along the lines of 60/40? I don't know big iron block probably makes a difference.

The weight distribution is an almost perfect 50/50 for a Silvia or a 240sx with the SR. The KA weighs more obviously, but not enough to make it 60/40.... a stock 240 still has a VERY respectable distribution.

My front bumper looks better than an S13 front bumper. I have a 96 with a Greddy lip. Plus I cut out the cross supports, making the bumper look a lot cleaner...Now if I only had use for an intercooler to fill that space...

I believe someone (daunt??) posted the weight distribution to be 51/49, for the Silvias, making ours slightly more...Both the S13 and 14 have about the same distribution.

Yeah, I bought my S13 because it was cheaper. ( a lot cheaper!) I like the MCS14, too, but my girlfriend says the S13 is cuter.
