i am currently at a crossroad. my s13's rust problem is too bad to modify it anymore. i will either keep it as a parts car or sell it. i am definatly going to be getting another 240, but i can't decide between a 91-93 s13 or a 97-98 s14. i'm going to be building a KA24DE powered streetable autoX car. i want a car that handles like its on rails and looks good.price of the car aside, which would you choose and why?s13 vs s14

S14 is a no brainer for me. money aside i would see no reason not to get it. Its newer, most likely less miles, better looking (IMO). If you cant decide then why wouldnt you go for the one 5+ years newer. get an SE with 5 lug and you will be set. why dont you like the 95-96??

S13 - they have a certain mystique that makes them more attractive then the S14s IMHO. S14's are beautiful though. I'd still have to go S13. (btw - suprised u didn't make it S13 HB vs. S13 Coupe vs. S14)

s13's are the sh*it. they are cheaper to fix, look awesome, and handle great!

the only reason to buy am s13 would be to get the single cam engine, revs faster, which i heard is better for drifting and such, that and thier dirt cheap if you wanna do a swap.

He said money aside. Newer does mean something. Newer is better. If i had to pick between two cars with the same engine and one was 5 years newer with Duel cams id pick that. But thats just me. The only reason i would pick an S13 is if it had a sileighty conversion. Not to mention an S14 SE has the advantage of 5 lug. But its really up to you man. whatever you think looks better and fits your style

i've never driven an s14 but i've heard the handling of the s13 feels better to most and since it is an auto x car in the making...

the S14's handling is very nice. Some of them come with LSDs too of course. they appear to be lower to the ground stock than the S13 (tho im sure you'll be upgrading the springs). Honestly it doesnt matter what you pick if you are gonna be upgrading it for AutoX. If you keep track of the drift scene you will notice that usually the S14s and S13s are neck and neck and in each race you will see a better S13s and the next you will see better S14s. Basically the S13s will be cheaper to buy but the aftermarket products for both will be around the same.

If these are the only criteria, then about the only deciding factor would be opinions of which car looks better, correct?

It's already been stated that both body styles are neck & neck, with proper track prep.. so it's a question of style.. I say s13, in complete factory appearance, allowing only for lowering springs and sticky rubber as obvious deviations from original equipment.

S14, because its not as popular. u take a look at some drift videos and nearly half the cars in it are a S13.

s14 hands down. according to the drift bible out of the box it handles better than the s13 (less understeer) plus it's japan's no 1 drift car! if u get an se no need for a 5 lug conversion. finally, no electric seatbelts!!

You can't compare the Japanese Silvia S14 to the USDM 240SX S14... the suspension was reworked as well as the difference in weight distribution.

S13, lighter and you already have a parts car.The fact that the S14 has more curn appeal wont affect you as autoX is a consideration for you.

Go with another s13 since you already have a parts car. That should be a huge factor in buying you're car. Free parts.

I'd say go with what you like, cause i think all the S13 guys will say get a S13 and S14 owners will say get a S14. ;)

i would rather have an 97-98 s14 than my s13, but for me money was an issue, plus 97-98's can be difficult to find....
