I am going to a junk yard Sunday to purchase a vlsd unit out of a J30 for my 91 s13. They have a few diffrent models and I am finding diffrent information online. I am trying to see what the best set up is and what all i need. I am under the impression that the J30 rear end is 3/4" therefor will not work unless you change the drive shaft. So I am planning on taking the internals out of the vlsd and putting them into the s13 pumpkin. Please let me know if I am on the right track and what the best way to go is. They have the a 93,94 and 95 J30.

In my opinion it is easier and more efficient to just have the drive shaft shortened. (unless your car has abs, than its not needed). I was able to get mine shortened and rebalanced for $60. A hole lot easier than, switching the vlsd guts, adusting bearing load and back lash. As far as the year, if the 94 is a late model, or the 95 you won't have to swap your axles.
