Okay so im new obviously, and this is my first drift car build.
So a couple days ago i took the steering column out to install a solid bushing, when i reassembled everything my car wont start in gear and has trouble even in neutral... it also seems to run a bit sluggish. the problem here is it used to be an auto, and i cant really pin point on why it would do this. i am thinking either neutral safety switching some how.. or my clutch switch or relay went out.

Before i took the steering column out my car started up like it was new. now it starts like s*** and only with a lot of negotiating.
im clueless on electrical, and no one i know has had this problem before.

i need help!!!!

does it start up when you put the clutch down and then bog down and then die out after you let the clutch out? then its nuetral safety switch. my car did that cause the nss was stuck pressed in. if it starts and idles like crap and then dies out and then is hard to start again its timing, but seeing how you didnt touch timing slide under your dash and check out your nss and see if it moves freely..hope i sort of helped you out.

I can start it with out the clutch pushed in and out of gear, but in gear it won't start. The car just turns over a bunch until it either stops turning over or starts. Once started it runs fine but seems to have lost a little power. I checked everything that I could have bumped but everything seems fine. The only thing that's loose is the mechanism the key goes in.

When you or whoever did the auto to manual trans swap, was the clutch safety switch even wired in? Many people do not bother.

My guess is something physical happened to the clutch pedal, linkage to master cylinder or something to the MC itself.

If the clutch is not fully disengaging when depressed to the floor, it will be a drag on the engine if started in gear and will be hard or impossible to put into gear once running.

The safety switch is in. I didn't do the install I bought the car with the swap. I'll check the peddle and cylinder I'm going to switch them out anyway. Thanks for the info! Anymore info will still be appreciated
